When vessels perform berthing, mooring and towing operations, mooring ropes or steel wires frequently change directions under high tension. Roller fairlead (also known as deck-end roller fairlead) is specially designed marine mooring hardware fitted on deck or bulwark. Equipped with rotating roller assemblies, it guides mooring lines smoothly while greatly lowering friction resistance between hawser and fitting surface. It transfers dynamic mooring loads to hull structure and protects ropes from severe abrasion during mooring-line pulling-in and paying-out.
Maximum safe working load (SWL) matching vessel mooring arrangement
Maximum allowable mooring-line diameter (synthetic rope or steel wire rope)
Hull installation condition: deck-mounted or bulwark-mounted structure
Local marine environment: seawater corrosion, frequent wave splash
